The Sixties beehive: hairstyle of the moment

As the autumn weather finally arrives, we are starting to think about the biggest hair trendsfor the new season. Tying in with the current fashion trend for all things Sixties, we are seeing a revival of the classic beehive hairstyle. Bottega Veneta and Jean Paul Gaultier both sent models down the catwalk with their hair backcombed into beehives, so now we want to try this cool style for ourselves. This glamorous look is great because you can style it to suit you – pile hair high for Amy Winehouse-inspired drama, or add a little tease for just a nod to vintage style. According to the haircare professionals at Ojon, this new take on the classic style is “looser and less fixed with more texture, but still full of volume.”

You can create your own beehive by prepping hair with the Ojon Volume Advance range – after washing your hair, add some of their Volume Advance Animated Volumizing Cream to give fine hair a boost before blow-drying. Tip hair forward, divide hair into sections from the crown and use a fine tail comb to gently back-comb at the roots. For mega volume, you could add a hair donut or clip-in extensions at this point. Tip the hair back again and gently smooth and comb over the front sections of hair to hide the teased roots and to create your perfect beehive style. Finally, spritz with Ojon Volume Advance Volumizing Styling Spray to keep everything in place, before gently messing up the style with your fingertips for a more contemporary look.
